Hand crafted English Ales from Welbeck Abbey Village
Welbeck Abbey Brewery is a traditional real ale brewery situated on one of England's finest country estates, Welbeck Abbey. With historic roots stretching back as far as the Domesday Book, Welbeck Abbey has been a monastery, home to a succession of earls and lords and more recently an army training college. Today, it plays home to an enterprising village focused around the Welbeck Project, a sustainable community of rural and creative industries, education and arts initiatives.
Welbeck Abbey Brewery is one of estate’s newest ventures and is right at the heart of the community. Managed by Head Brewer Claire Monk and her team, the brewery was developed in partnership with Sheffield's Kelham Island Brewery and the East Midlands Development Agency. Housed in a listed barn, it Produces just over 10,000 pints of handcrafted beer a week using only four quality ingredients – malted barley, finest hops, the estate's own natural spring water and a unique strain of nurtured yeast. No sugar or additives are used during the brewing process and flavours are achieved through careful variation of raw materials and method.
