Hand crafted English Ales from Welbeck Abbey Village
Welbeck Abbey Brewery is a traditional real ale brewery situated on one of England's
finest country estates, Welbeck Abbey. With historic roots stretching back as far as
the Domesday Book, Welbeck Abbey has been a monastery, home to a succession of earls
and lords and more recently an army training college. Today, it plays home to an
enterprising village focused around building a sustainable community of rural and
creative industries, education and arts initiatives.
Welbeck Abbey Brewery is one of estate’s newest ventures and is right at the
heart of the community. Housed in a listed barn it was established by Head
Brewer Claire Monk in 2011. Together with a small dedicated team she manages
the production of 15,000 pints of handcrafted beer a week using only four
quality ingredients – malted barley, finest hops, the estate's own natural
spring water and a unique strain of nurtured yeast. No sugar or additives
are used during the brewing process and flavours are achieved through careful
variation of raw materials and method.
