Core Cask Ales

Our range of crafted English ales is sure to satisfy all thirsts. We brew six core cask ales all year round.

Henrietta

Golden Ale  3.6%

Our most popular beer is named after two famous Henriettas in the Welbeck family linage. ‘Our Henrietta’ is a delicate Golden Ale packed full of wonderful hop character. Challenger hops provide the bitter note and balance perfectly with the citrus and fresh grassy nose of the Cascade and Hallertaur Brewers Gold varieties.

Portland Black

Black Beer  4.5%

Portland Black is brewed in tribute to the estate’s owners, the Duke and Duchess of Portland. A rich, smooth black beer with all the flavour of a porter but without the weight, dark malts hold the secret to its taste. They create a very smooth drink with smoke, liquorice and burnt toffee flavours topped off with a distinct vanilla nose.

Red Feather

Amber Ale  3.9%

Red Feather takes its inspiration from the emblem of Welbeck and its crossed red feathers, which represent pride in the estate’s heritage and entrepreneurial spirit. Red Feather is an English ale and it blends a bitterness with caramel notes from its Crystal malts to create a moreish, malty amber beer.

Cavendish

Bonde Beer  5.0%

Cavendish, our signature blonde ale, plays tribute to the House of Cavendish, a family lineage which spans from the 1300’s through to the current family at Welbeck. Although slightly stronger than a session beer, the grapefruit zing of Cascade hops balances perfectly with Maris Otter malts to make Cavendish a very quaffable beer.

Harley

Pale Ale  4.3%

Harley draws its name from Edward Harley, ‘The Great Collector’. He was husband to Henrietta, and one of the country’s finest archivists, building an astonishing collection of books and art at Welbeck. Harley is a lightly citrus, refreshing pale ale, crafted using a balance of English, German and American hops.

Carlton Knight

Premium English Bitter  3.8%

We brew Carlton Knight exclusively for our Brewery Tap, The Grey Horses Inn in the village of Carlton-in-Lindrick. A well balanced, full-bodied amber ale with some bitterness, it has all the hallmarks of a traditional English Bitter. For more information see: www.greyhorsesinn.com

Monthly Specials

For this year's Monthly Specials Collection we are delighted to showcase
two limited edition cask beers every month. One is a Best of British recipe,
the other either a Continental or a New World style beer. The Best of
British series ranges from modern pale ales to strong traditional IPA's -
all brewed using only the finest British ingredients. The New World beers
use the choicest hops from America, New Zealand or Australia and the
Continental-style recipes use European hops and special brewing techniques.

You can find out more about the individual character of each ale and the
story behind their names on a monthly basis both in our News section and by following our tweets.

Bottled beers

Our bottled ales – Henrietta, Cavendish, Portland Black and Red Feather,
are brewed in exactly the same way as our casks. The ales are then bottled
in partnership with another local brewery using their state-of-the-art
bottling line and returned back to us where we distribute to retail outlets
across the North Midlands and Yorkshire.

Demand for our bottled beers is increasing by the week. At the moment
we deliver to around 10 retail outlets in the local area such as Hops In A
Bottle in Mansfield, The Dram Shop in Sheffield, The Real Ale Corner in
Chesterfield and The Real Ale Store in Newark.

However our primary outlet is The Welbeck Farm Shop. It has earned a
national reputation as one of the country’s best farm shops and aside from
stocking all our beers, offers a fantastic range of local and Welbeck
produce. We are delighted to have manager, Sarah and her fantastic team
supporting our efforts.
