Core Cask Ales
We have a core range of three cask beers, which are available all year round and a growing range of bottled beers. Each month we also brew a different seasonal cask beer which is often bottled as a limited edition. We are always keen to find out what you think of our beers, so let us know by emailing your thoughts to email@example.com
Golden Ale 3.6%
Our most popular beer is named after two famous Henrietta’s in the Welbeck family linage. ‘Our Henrietta’ is a delicate Golden Ale packed full of wonderful hop character. Challenger hops provide the bitter note and balance perfectly with the citrus and fresh grassy nose of the Cascade and Hallertaur Brewers Gold varieties.
Black Beer 4.5% ABV
Portland Black is brewed in tribute to the estate’s owners, the Duke and Duchess of Portland. A rich, smooth black beer with all the flavour of a porter but without the weight, dark malts hold the secret to its taste. They create a very smooth drink with smoke, liquorice and burnt toffee flavours topped off with a distinct vanilla nose.
Blonde Beer 5.0% ABV
Cavendish, our signature blonde ale, plays tribute to the House of Cavendish, a family lineage which spans from the 1300’s through to the current family at Welbeck. Although slightly stronger than a session beer, the grapefruit zing of Cascade hops balances perfectly with Maris Otter malts to make Cavendish a very quaffable beer.
Deep Ruby Ale 4.2% ABV
Ernest George was an architect who laboured to rebuild and restore one of the wings of Welbeck Abbey after it was completely destroyed by fire in 1900. Ernest George Ruby Ale pays homage to the great man and has been brewed in the style of the era using a carefully balanced blend of roasted malts to give distinctive coffee and chocolate notes.
Amber Ale 3.9% ABV
Red Feather takes inspiration from the emblem of Welbeck and its crossed red feathers, which represent pride in the estate’s heritage and entrepreneurial spirit. Red Feather is a distinctly English ale and blends a robust bitterness with caramel notes from its Crystal malts to create a moreish, malty amber beer.
2012 Monthly Specials
Every month we brew a unique ale as part of our Monthly Specials Collection. The ales offer something a little different and more experimental than our core range of ‘session’ beers and are growing in popularity. We put a Welbeck Village theme to the collection and for 2012 it is ‘Runners and Riders’. Each ale is named after a famous race horse or jockey from Welbeck's historical stables, which also ties in with the launch of the three year horse racing exhibition at the Harley Gallery. You can find out more about the individual character of each ale and the exciting story behind their names on a monthly basis in our News section.
